A complaint has been filed against certain individuals for allegedly assaulting a hawker on thursday night at charminar during the Ganesh immersion procession. The victim, whose identity has not been made public by the police, was selling sweet corn at his roadside stall in the Laad Bazaar neighborhood near charminar when a group of kids who were part of a Ganesh idol procession approached the vendor from the Hussainalam side and attacked him, leaving him with bleeding wounds on his head and hands.

The man apparently reported the incident to the on-site police, who at first turned him down. Later, he proceeded to the neighboring charminar police station, where several officers transported him to a hospital so that first aid could be administered. The police booked a case against unknown persons under Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 r/w 34 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of IPC, and an investigation is ongoing.

The miscreants will be identified by two teams using CCTV video, according to charminar SHO K Chandrasekhar. In a video that was extensively shared on social media, people claimed the seller had been knifed. However, the police insisted that they will revise or expand the case as necessary following the inquiry.
