In many villages of Madhya Pradesh, such superstitious traditions are followed on the second day of Diwali
festival, in which many people even get injured. In Bhidavad, Loharia of ujjain district, people lie down on the
main road of the village and hundreds of cows pass over them. These traditions are being followed for a long time
in the name of Govardhan Puja.
In fact, villager Sapna Vishwakarma says that there is an old belief that if one follows these traditions then no
disaster befalls the village. Apart from this, people also make a wish and when their wish is fulfilled then they
become a part of this tradition. Even in Bhidavad of ujjain district, people are risking their lives to follow these
traditions due to superstition.
Puja starts five days before Diwali
People say that the worship of animals starts five days before Diwali. After this, on the next morning of Diwali,
people gather on the main road of the village with the bang of drums. After this, some people lie down on the
ground and cattle are passed over them. Rajesh, who participated in the vow, says that he has become a part of this
tradition for everyone's happiness and to fulfill the vow. He has not suffered any kind of injury. Whoever takes
part in the event by taking the name of god, his wishes are fulfilled.
The village is named after Gauri Puja.
Villager Radheshyam told that, this unique tradition has been named village Gauri Puja. people participating in
village Gauri Puja follow rules and restraint, those who lie down in front of animals on the main road also start
worshiping many days in advance. Although no one has been seriously injured while following this tradition,
people do get slightly injured.
