Chhath Puja, the great festival of folk faith, is starting with Nahay-Khay on friday (17 November). This is a four

day festival. The folk festival of worship of Lord bhaskar is celebrated on surya Shashthi (Dala Chhath) on

Kartik Shukla Shashthi Tithi. At the same time, chief minister Nitish Kumar has given his congratulations and

best wishes to the state and the countrymen on the occasion of Chhath, the four-day festival of folk faith. The

chief minister has said that this great festival of folk faith is a festival of self-discipline, in which people offer

Arghya to the setting and rising Lord sun with spiritual purification and a pure mind.

twice a year in the month of Chaitra and Kartik. But Chhath falling in Kartik month is considered more

important. This year Chhath festival is starting with Nahay-Khay on 17th November. Chhath Mahaparva is

celebrated for four full days and the devotee observes a strict waterless fast of 36 hours. There is a tradition of

worshiping sun god in Chhath Puja. This is the only festival in which along with offering Arghya to the rising

sun, Arghya is also offered to the setting Sun.
