Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao has been served a notice by the election commission for combining an official visit with the political or private one, while his father and party head K Chandrashekar Rao gets an advisory from the poll body where it has asked him to follow the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). KTR, who is also a minister in the outgoing government, was served the notice based on a complaint from congress leader Randeep Surjewala. It was alleged that he violated the MCC by visiting the T-works office in hyderabad on november 20 and interacted with a large number of youth employed in the office and promised to fill government jobs in T-Works.
The complaint was regarding the use of government offices for political activities. In the notice issued to KTR, the ec said he is not only a candidate in the ongoing assembly elections in telangana but also a star campaigner of the BRS. “…you are expected to follow the provisions of the MCC and ECI’s extant instructions during the election campaigning and… the Commission is, prima facie, held that by visiting to a Govt. Institution and using the platform of T-works for political activities and combining your official visit with political/private visit, you have violated the above said instruction of the Model Code of Conduct,” the notice said.
KTR has been asked to reply to the notice by 3 pm on Sunday. Meanwhile, kcr was served a notice for following the MCC referring to a speech he delivered last month. The advisory, issued on friday and made public on ECI website late on Saturday, was based on KCR’s comments on the congress at a public meeting in Banswada on october 30.
