CM Arvind Kejriwal’s government is planning to sign an MoU with NCRTC for the construction of Delhi-Alwar

and Delhi-Panipat Rapid rail Transit System (RRTS) corridors on the lines of Delhi-Meerut RRTS. For this, the

AAP government is involved in the campaign to finalize a cabinet note. A senior government official said that the

Transport Department of delhi government has issued a draft cabinet note for amendments in the Delhi-

Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror corridor, in which feedback has been sought from the planning, law and finance

departments. According to a delhi official, after the projects get cabinet approval, a memorandum of

understanding (MoU) can be signed with the National capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) regarding

both the corridors. According to the information, delhi cabinet can take a decision on both the schemes very

soon.

What is Rapid rail Transit System?


The Rapid rail Transit System is a high speed rail network. Its speed can be between 160 to 180 kilometers. This

train has been started to make the Railways comfortable with new technologies. Only the first phase of Delhi

Ghaziabad meerut RRTS has been opened. National capital Region Transport Corporation has been formed to

run RRTS. Under this project, operations have been possible only from Sahibabad to Duhai. Whereas there is a

plan to run it from Sarai Kale Khan in delhi to Modipuram in Meerut. Work is underway to develop lines and

stations on the remaining stretches. National capital Region Transport Corporation will also play a key role in

building India's first Regional Rapid Transit System, which will be responsible for the construction and

maintenance of the Regional Rapid Transit System.
