Accordingly, it was expected that Rs.1000 cash would be given as pongal gift this year as well. However, chief minister Stalin

announced that Rs 1,000 pongal gift will be given to all other family card holders except Union and state government employees,

income tax payers, employees of public sector companies, sugar card holders, non-material card holders in fair price shops in

cash before pongal festival.

While the public was expecting Rs.1000 cash as pongal gift for all ration cards, the restriction on it caused dissatisfaction.

Also, various parties requested the government to give cash as pongal gift to everyone. Following this, chief minister Stalin

announced yesterday that pongal gift of Rs.1000 will be given to all ration cards.

While chief minister stalin was going to inaugurate the pongal gift collection program today, the public was delighted when

this announcement was made yesterday evening. On inquiring about the background, they say that Udayanidhi stalin is the main

reason for getting pongal gift of Rs.1000 for all ration cards.

Initially, the tamil Nadu government had planned to give Rs.1000 cash to everyone along with the pongal package.

But in between, tamil Nadu faced two calamities namely Mikjam storm and heavy rain in southern districts. As a result, the

Tamil Nadu government does not have enough funds to repair the damages. Therefore, due to lack of funds, it is not possible

to distribute the pongal gift package to everyone, so the restrictions have been imposed, according to sources in the Chief Secret.
