On the occasion of holi, for the prosperity and harmony of Bangwan village of Raisen, the villagers walk on burning embers, while at some places, they tie a goat to a 30-foot-high scaffold and move it around. It is also common to whip people during this period. However, people immersed in holi celebrations do not even feel the pain. Call it faith or superstition, but even today in rural areas, people are seen risking their lives in front of the police administration on the occasion of holi in the name of traditions. Similarly, in two villages of Silwani tehsil of the district, there is a tradition of walking on embers on the day of Holi.

Vanagwan village is situated 9 km away from Raisen district headquarters. In this village, on the second day of holi, the people of the Halaria Gotra (Kurmi) community worship their family deity, Meghnath Baba. During this puja, a scaffold is built here on two pillars 30 feet high. On which a goat is tied and rotated and after the puja is over, the goat is released. Villagers say that earlier, instead of goats, humans were tied to the scaffold. However, with time the traditions changed and goats started being used instead of humans.

people are whipped

While moving the goat above, people below are whipped. It is believed that due to the blessings of the family deity, people do not even feel the blows of the whip. The village people said that this tradition has been going on ever since this village was settled.
