The second phase of voting for the parliamentary elections has started this morning. Voting is taking place in 88 lok sabha constituencies under 13 states. A total of 1202 candidates are contesting in 88 constituencies. Out of which 1098 are male and 102 are female candidates. 15.88 crore candidates have qualified in today's election. One lakh 67 thousand polling booths have been set up.
Polling in 97 constituencies
This second phase election will be held in 20 constituencies in Kerala, 14 constituencies in Karnataka, 13 constituencies in Rajasthan, 6 constituencies in Madhya Pradesh, 8 constituencies each in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, 5 constituencies each in Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, 3 constituencies each in West Bengal, 1 each in kashmir - SRINAGAR/JAMMU' target='_blank' title='jammu and kashmir-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>jammu and kashmir and Tripura. A total of 87 constituencies will be elected.
Who are the star candidates?
Due to the death of a candidate in a constituency in Madhya Pradesh, polling will be held on May 7 only in that constituency. Meanwhile, former congress President rahul gandhi in wayanad constituency, Union minister Rajeev chandrasekhar in the thiruvananthapuram constituency, congress General Secretary K.C. in Alappuzha. Venugopal, Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is contesting from the jodhpur constituency in Rajasthan, and actress hema malini is from mathura constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
