A five-storey building suddenly collapsed late night on friday (April 18) in Dayalpur, Mustafabad. Many people were buried under the debris in the accident and rescue teams including NDRF, police, fire brigade started relief work. This incident once again exposed the problem of illegal construction and dilapidated buildings in Delhi.
BJP's serious allegation on AAP
delhi bjp President Virendra Sachdeva termed this incident as a 'human tragedy' and said, "Such dangerous buildings are standing like 'flaming bombs' in Muslim dominated areas like Mustafabad, Karawal Nagar, Seelampur, Okhla, Matia Mahal, Ballimaran and Sadar Bazar. In the last 10 years, AAP MLAs and councillors elected from these areas ran the 'business' of illegally constructing fifth and sixth floors to strengthen their vote bank and make a source of income." Sachdeva says that profits were made by settling small tenants in these floors, due to which such dangerous buildings were built.
'MCD should take immediate action'
Sachdeva has demanded immediate action from the delhi Municipal Corporation Commissioner. He said that MCD should conduct a survey of buildings above the fourth floor and dilapidated houses in areas like Mustafabad, Karawal Nagar, Seelampur, Okhla, Matia Mahal, Ballimaran and Sadar Bazar. Such buildings need to be evacuated and sealed or orders to be demolished so that such accidents can be prevented in future.
