The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has filed a case against former delhi Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and former minister Satyendra Jain for construction of classrooms at excessive cost.

The aam aadmi party (AAP) has termed this allegation as baseless. AAP said that after Sisodia and Jain were appointed in-charge of punjab unit, acb filed the case to put pressure on them. Sisodia was the education minister in the kejriwal government. Jain was the Public Works (PWD) Minister. AAP's media in-charge Anurag Dhanda rejected the allegations and said, "This is a 'political' move to put pressure on Sisodia and Jain. The bjp government has no work and in every case it registers a case against AAP leaders.''

Not afraid of hollow threats - Dhanda

Dhanda said, ''Just like a case was filed against Durgesh Pathak as soon as he became gujarat co-in-charge, similarly now a case has been filed against punjab in-charge Sisodia and Jain. bjp should understand well that AAP leaders are not afraid of their agencies like ED and cbi or such hollow threats.''

What is ACB's claim?

It is claimed that during the reign of the aam aadmi party (AAP) government in delhi, corruption of Rs 2,000 crore took place in the construction of 12,748 classrooms/buildings. The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) in its report dated 17 february 2020 had said that there were 'clear irregularities' in the construction works. acb has registered a case in this matter. According to the acb statement, each classroom was allegedly constructed for Rs 24.86 lakh, which is almost five times the normal cost. The work was allegedly handed over to contractors linked to the Aam Aadmi Party.
