delhi Pradesh congress Committee President Devendra Yadav once again put the policies of bjp and aam aadmi party in the dock and said that due to the internal shortcomings of delhi Municipal Corporation, technical flaws of the tax portal and wrong decisions like user charge for garbage, lakhs of people of delhi are paying many times more house tax than required.

Yadav said that the Municipal Corporation itself has accepted that due to technical flaws in the portal, the amount of tax is not appearing correctly. Despite this, in an atmosphere of fear and confusion, common people are forced to pay arbitrary tax. Giving an example, he said that those whose house tax was normally Rs 800, are now having to pay up to Rs 3100.

'User charge is also being collected'

He blamed the mutual tussle and collusion of bjp and aam aadmi party for this and said that due to the glitches in the software of the tax portal, the citizens are suffering huge financial losses. Yadav also questioned the user charge imposed in the name of garbage collection and said that bjp and APP have put an additional tax burden on the residents of Delhi. He said that now user charge is also being collected along with house tax in delhi, due to which the amount of tax has almost doubled. Under this system, owners of common residential properties are being charged an additional fee of Rs 600 to Rs 2400 annually, while owners of commercial commercial properties have to pay Rs 6000 to Rs 60,000 per year

Demand for reform in tax system

Devendra Yadav said that this double recovery is injustice to the people. On the one hand, more tax than the prescribed amount is being collected due to the flaws of the tax portal, and on the other hand, a separate fee is being charged for garbage collection every month under the “Delhi Solid Waste Management Act 2018”.
