Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant has flagged off a new Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) bus service aimed at strengthening public transport connectivity between Panjim and the rural areas of Sankhali. The move is expected to ease daily commuting for students, employees, and local residents. Alongside the transport update, Sawant also spoke about the state government’s welfare schemes and issued strong remarks on national politics.

Here are the top highlights from the CM’s announcement

1 New KTC bus service Launched

The cm inaugurated the much-awaited KTC bus service, connecting Panjim to Sankhali’s rural regions. This service will make travel easier for people from villages, cutting down travel costs and providing a safer, more reliable mode of transport.

2 Introduction of 4 Electric Buses

In line with Goa’s push toward sustainable mobility, four EV (electric) buses have been introduced under the initiative. The cm highlighted that this eco-friendly step will not only reduce carbon emissions but also lower the dependency on fossil fuels, making public transport greener.

3 Boost to ‘Majhi Bus’ Scheme

Pramod Sawant emphasized that the new service is part of the ‘Majhi Bus’ scheme, designed to support students, private employees, and daily commuters. Affordable public transport ensures better access to education and work opportunities, especially for rural populations.

4 Focus on Affordable Housing – ‘Mera Ghar’ Scheme

The cm reiterated his government’s commitment to housing for the underprivileged through the flagship ‘Mera Ghar’ scheme.

  • Objective: Provide homes to those without land or housing.
  • Approach: Resolve disputes and ensure security of tenure for every family.

Sawant stressed that the government is working to ensure that “those who have nothing get it through government schemes.”

5 Strong Words Against INDI Bloc Parties

Shifting to politics, Sawant condemned the alleged derogatory remarks made against Prime minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during the INDI bloc’s Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar’s Darbhanga. He called the remarks an “insult to all women of the country” and said india would not tolerate such language.

6 bjp vs congress war of Words

The controversy has further intensified the war of words between the BJP and Congress.

  • BJP’s Stand: Demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, accusing congress of “lowering political standards.”
  • Congress’s Response: Dismissed the issue as “irrelevant” and accused bjp of diverting attention from core governance matters.

 Final Word

The inauguration of the KTC bus service marks a positive step toward improving Goa’s rural connectivity while also pushing the state’s green mobility agenda forward. Alongside transport and housing welfare schemes, cm Sawant’s sharp political statements underline the ongoing friction between ruling and opposition parties at the national level.

Goa’s residents, especially students and rural commuters, are set to benefit most from these initiatives, while the political debate continues to heat up nationally.
