Prime minister Narendra Modi released the 22nd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM‑KISAN) scheme, providing direct financial support to farmers. The event took place on March 13, 2026 during a government programme in Guwahati, Assam. More than ₹18,640 crore was disbursed via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to over 9.3 crore eligible farmers across the country.

💰 What Farmers Will Receive

Under the PM‑KISAN scheme, each eligible farmer family gets ₹2,000 in this instalment. This is part of the yearly ₹6,000 assistance provided in three equal instalments, aimed at helping small and marginal farmers manage agricultural expenses like seeds, fertiliser, and other inputs.

🌾 Beneficiary Reach and Regional Impact

Around 9.32 crore farmer families have been covered nationwide with this payment.

In Rajasthan, over 66.7 lakh farmers received 1,355crore as part of the 22nd instalment, reinforcing the scheme’s reach at the state level.

In Prayagraj district, over 5 lakh farmers received an instalment totalling more than 170crore, showing strong local impact.

📅 Why This Instalment Matters

The PM‑KISAN scheme has been ongoing since 2019 and this 22nd instalment marks continued support over many years. Eligible farmers receive the benefit directly in their bank accounts, helping reduce dependence on informal credit and supporting rural incomes.

🧾 Eligibility, e‑KYC and Payment Verification

Farmers must ensure their e‑KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) is completed and their bank accounts are correctly linked with Aadhaar to receive the instalment without delays. For those who haven’t received the money yet, this is usually the key reason. Farmers can check their status online or through the official PM‑KISAN portal or Common service Centres.

📈 Scheme Significance and government Focus

Launched in February 2019, the PM‑KISAN scheme is one of India’s largest direct benefit transfer programmes. It is designed to:

Provide regular financial assistance to small and marginal farmers.

Reduce financial stress on farming households.

Enhance agricultural productivity by enabling farmers to invest in inputs.

Eliminate middlemen by going directly to beneficiary bank accounts.

Each instalment reinforces the government’s commitment to rural welfare and agricultural support.

🧑‍🌾 Farmer Tips: Ensuring You Get the Instalment

If a farmer hasn’t received the ₹2,000 yet, they should:

Complete e‑KYC on the PM‑KISAN portal.

Verify bank account and Aadhaar linkage.

Check beneficiary status using their mobile number or registration ID.
