Previously, after the division of andhra pradesh, the tdp government had allocated 11 acres of land in amaravati for the establishment of an RBI regional office. However, with the change in administration and the focus on Visakhapatnam as the executive capital, the decision to relocate the regional office to Visakhapatnam has garnered attention.
Officials from the state finance department have written a letter to the district collector, suggesting the identification of suitable buildings in Visakhapatnam with an area of 30,000 to 35,000 square feet. The letter recommends selecting buildings on a rental basis for a period of five years, providing necessary facilities such as drinking water, toilets, lifts, electricity connection, parking, internet, and counters. The Regional director of RBI has expressed interest in considering suitable buildings in Visakhapatnam, according to the finance department officials.
