🏅 Aligarh’s Neeru Pathak Sets New National Record in 400m, Dreams of Olympic Glory


Neeru Pathak, a young athlete from Gadakheda village in the Iglas area of aligarh, has made headlines by winning gold in the under-20 women’s 400m race at the 40th National junior Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.


She clocked a remarkable 53.38 seconds, setting a new meet record and surpassing the previous record of 53.52 seconds held by Jisna Mathew since 2017.


Neeru already holds the national record in the under-18 girls' category with a time of 52.85 seconds.


The current senior national record for 400m is 50.79 seconds, set by Hima Das in 2018.


Neeru’s victory brings immense pride to Aligarh district and showcases the growing talent in Uttar Pradesh athletics.


District Athletics Association Secretary vivek Kumar praised her for the record-breaking performance, calling it a testament to her hard work and focus.

Neeru's journey began in her school days, where she started participating in school-level competitions.

Her daily routine includes waking up at 4 a.m. for morning practice, attending school, studying, and training again in the evening.


Her father, Rajveer Pathak, a farmer, recalls how she used to run to school as a child, thinking it was just a playful habit.


Today, her running has become a symbol of pride and aspiration, not just for her family, but for the nation.


Neeru’s dream is to win a medal at the Olympics, and her journey so far indicates she is well on her way to achieving it.
