samsung Electronics is going to invest 1000 crores in one of its manufacturing units in tamil Nadu. The company has taken this step just a few months after the workers' strike. Let us tell you that the employees were on strike in the month of september under the banner of Center of indian Trade Union (CITU) at the Sriperumbudur plant near Chennai. Their demands included recognition of the union by the company, improvement in working hours and increase in salary.

These products are made in the plant

The news of Samsung's investment in the Sriperumbudur plant was confirmed by tamil Nadu industry Minister Dr. TRB raja on social media. He said that this new investment will create 100 new jobs in the manufacturing unit. Many electronic products like refrigerators, washing machines, televisions are manufactured in the Sriperumbudur plant. Goods worth US$ 12 billion were sold from here in 2022-23.

tamil Nadu has the highest number of factories in the country

tamil Nadu has been successful in attracting investments worth Rs 10.14 lakh crore between May 2021 and march 2025. As a result, 32 lakh jobs have been created in sectors like automobile, semi-conductor and technical textiles. So far, tamil Nadu has 31,517 manufacturing units, which is the highest in India. maharashtra is in second place with the number of factories at 20,739.

Samsung's Sriperumbudur plant currently employs more than 2,000 people. It is a major contributor to Samsung's operations in India. According to the company's data for the financial year 2022-23, this plant has contributed about one-fifth of Samsung's Rs 1 lakh crore sales across the country.
