Caste name restaurants on zomato, Swiggy...!?

Bengaluru restaurants and cafes featured on zomato and swiggy, using the name "Brahmin" in their names, have sparked controversy. Although many leaders actively campaigned against the caste system that discriminated against based on birth, its influence continues to this day. Subsequently, the trend of adding caste names after restaurant names have again become a topic of debate.

Most indian communities are deeply caste-conscious and naming restaurants after caste has created a stir on social media. A twitter user who shared photos of restaurants shared her childhood experience of caste abuse at school. The beneficiary said that there is no such thing as specific Brahmin food. Brahmins are found all over the subcontinent and eat a variety of foods including fish and meat.
There is no Brahmin way of garnishing food. When we name the restaurant as 'Brahmin', it obviously implies caste and nothing else, he posted. Names like Brahmin's Plate Idli, Brahmin Express, Amma's Brahmin Cafe, and Brahmin's Tiffins & coffee are the restaurants operating on Zomato. Restaurants are operating in swiggy with names like Brahmins Upahar, Brahmins Special Puliyogare, and Brahmins Kitchen.A similar incident happened in 2018. A Bengaluru-based catering company advertises that it serves pure Brahmin lunch.
The banner was photographed by lawyer and social activist Dr. P karthik had criticized Navayana by posting on Twitter. Social activists want the central and state governments to take action against restaurants operating in caste names.
