
The delhi High court granted bail to an AIIMS doctor accused of raping a woman by promising to marry her. The court said that prima facie it appears that the accused and the woman were consensual live-in partners. Justice Shailendra Kaur, who was hearing the bail plea of the junior resident doctor, said that the woman had lodged FIRs against other people for similar crimes and some cases including extortion were also registered against her. The court said, "It is noteworthy that the counsel for the petitioner also told the court that the victim has lodged FIRs against other persons for other crimes similar to the present case and some FIRs have also been registered against her. "
Extortion case against woman
A case of extortion was registered against the woman, in which she was accused of extorting money from a person and his family and threatening to implicate them in criminal cases.
'A web of complex facts is visible'
In its order dated May 30, the court said, "What has emerged from the material presented before this court is a web of complex facts. In such a situation, the contradictory things about the nature of the relationship between the petitioner (doctor) and the prosecutrix should be weighed carefully."
The woman stayed with the doctor for 15 days
The woman is said to be educated, she is already married and she also has a child. The child is 'disabled'. It also came to light that she stayed with the doctor and his family for 15 days.
'No incident was reported to the police'
The court said, "It is clear from the record that despite accusing the petitioner of sexually assaulting her in early december 2024, the prosecutrix did not report any incident to the police and no explanation was given for this that in fact the prosecutrix was staying with him."
