Renault Cardian launch

Renault has confirmed that its all-new compact SUV Cardian will be launched on october 25, 2023. Renault has officially released some teaser pictures of the design of this SUV, its sales will start in Brazil. However, a few months ago, patent images of the SUV surfaced on the internet, revealing initial details of the SUV's look.

How is the Renault Cardian SUV?

The new Cardion SUV, based on the Dacia Sandero Stepway, will be Renault's smallest SUV in many developing markets, especially since the Kiger is not available in many countries outside India. It is primarily targeted at South American markets, where Dacia is not present. The new Renault Cardian will compete with other newly introduced small SUVs like Fiat's Pulse. The Guardian will share some body panels, powertrain, and its CMF-B platform with the Sandero Stepway, but it will get a completely new front styling.

Exterior and interior

The patent images reveal that the Guardian will feature a double-layer grille, a long bumper, and a faux brushed aluminum skidplate along with a striking chin along separated headlamps. The Cardion will have a coupe-SUV-like bodyshell, with extra ground clearance and chunky cladding on the wheel arches and running boards to complement its strong SUV looks. At the rear, the tail lamps will have a C-shaped design which resembles the Kiger. The higher variants will feature stylish alloy wheels, roof rails, a shark-fin antenna, and additional chrome bits.

The new teaser of the interior reveals a stylish dashboard design that is similar to other Renault SUVs, with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, a drive mode selector, and a four-spoke steering wheel. Depending on the variant, the interiors will get a mix of piano black with faux brushed aluminum and wooden inserts.

Renault Guardian: powertrain

Cardigan will get a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. It will be placed below the second-generation Duster, which is currently available on sale in Brazil. The next generation Duster is also in the works and will be based on the future CMF-B platform, and will be built at the same plant in brazil with the Cardiang. This SUV is very similar to Renault Kiger, so it is unlikely to come to India. However, the new Duster can be expected to arrive in the indian market by diwali 2025.
