Guru (Kavin) is an IT specialist who is well-known for his commitment to his work. As a Team Lead, he is relocated to the chennai division, where he encounters Harini (Amritha Iyer), an HR specialist. The pair had a previous relationship that ended in a sour note. Guru works late one day at the office in order to finish a description of the project. Nevertheless, he is taken aback by the strange events that occur at the workplace, particularly in the lift, which prohibit him from leaving the premises. He later discovers Harini, who is also trapped on the same level as him due to paranormal activity. The plot revolves around how the two unravel the riddle.

Lift, directed by vineeth Varaprasad, is a solid debut for the director, and it's a welcome addition to the horror genre. The film deals with a subject that is fresh to the tamil cinema industry. The filmmaker and his crew deserve praise for effectively directing a film that focuses primarily on an elevator and only central characters. Lift's scary element has worked out perfectly in most of the scenes, making for a decent moviegoing experience.

However, the film's biggest flaw is that it takes its sweet time getting into the main plot. Furthermore, the inconsistency in the writing is noticeable throughout, as some of the situations turned out exceptionally well while others simply did not work. From the minute it enters the entire storyline, Lift concentrates primarily on the occasional jump scares and exhilarating scenes, and it doesn't expand further than that.
