Maridas, a YouTuber, was detained in madurai for making inflammatory comments on a social networking site. Maridas (43) is from Madurai's Suryanagar neighbourhood. He plans to use social media to express his support for prime minister Modi and the BJP. There was talk of outlawing the pro-Pakistan DMK during the tamil Nadu assembly elections, which sparked controversy. Since the DMK came to power, he has been making different accusations on social media.

A helicopter crash killed the indian Army commander who was on his way to Coonoor. He has made contentious remarks, implying that the tragedy may have been the result of a terrorist conspiracy. On the orders of madurai police Commissioner Premanand Sinha, the police went to Maridas' residence yesterday morning and invited him out, including Anna nagar Assistant Commissioner of police Surakkumar and Puthur police Inspector Duraipandi. He allegedly informed the bjp after refusing to arrive.

Following this, bjp leader Saravanan, administrator Hari, and others assembled in front of Maridas' residence in Managar district. They chanted anti-police slogans, urging the officers not to detain Maridas. Maridas, on the other hand, was taken to the Puthur police station and interviewed. He was charged with and arrested for disturbing the peace, among other things. The police stated in this respect, "We detained him for his alleged role in the Coonoor chopper disaster, as well as his inflammatory remarks against the DMK regime made the day before. He was not arrested because of the BJP's intervention. He was arrested and a summons was issued as to why he was being detained."

According to the bjp, "We went to Maridas' house and denounced his arrest because he is a nationalist and a social worker. The reason for his arrest was not immediately disclosed by the police. After being apprehended, he was prosecuted. This is something we strongly oppose. He is prepared to stand trial in a courtroom."
