Regarding Virat Kohli's participation in the impending indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, indian great sunil gavaskar voiced concerns, given the star batsman's absence from the current Test series against england for personal reasons. The opening match of IPL 2024 is set for march 22 at Chepauk, between the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings and royal challengers Bangalore.

Before the first Test match in Hyderabad, virat kohli, who was included in the team for the first two matches, withdrew. Virat and his wife Anushka Sharma celebrated the birth of their second child, a boy, earlier this month. "Kya woh kheleng? For whatever reason, he is not playing in the IPL. Shaayad ho sakta hai ke liye bhi na khele (Will he play? When asked if kohli would be eager for runs in the IPL given he would be returning to action after a lengthy layoff, Gavaskar said somewhat cheekily, "He is not playing for some reason, perhaps he may not play in the IPL as well."

Gavaskar said that dhruv Jurel, the wicketkeeper-batsman for the rajasthan Royals, may be the most outstanding player of the current IPL season. Playing in just his second Test match, Jurel was named Man of the Match after contributing a brilliant 90 runs at bat and an undefeated 39 in India's series-winning win against England.
