Deputy chief minister and Energy minister Mallu bhatti vikramarka made two positive announcements on saturday and hinted at the impending introduction of a new electricity strategy. First, there would be no increase in electricity rates or blackouts. Speaking to the media, the deputy chief minister claimed that the former BRS administration had destroyed the power industry and that it had taken longer to get the energy branch back on track. Shortly after the report was issued, the government moved to evaluate the power purchase agreements, including those with the chhattisgarh power transmission firms.

According to bhatti vikramarka, on friday the newly elected administration set a new record for the most power supplied in a single day, producing 15,623 MW. The current administration exceeded the previous record electricity supply of 15,497 MW. Over the past three months, appropriate steps have been taken to ensure a continuous supply of electricity. Compared to the same months, the amount of power consumed in december 2023, January, and february of this year grew significantly. The energy wing projected that throughout the summer, the peak hourly power consumption would be 16,500 MW, and plans were put in place for the necessary power supply.

The minister also stated that raising the electricity rate was out of the question since the government did not want to put more of a burden on the public. The free supply of electricity to the agricultural sector and up to 200 units to the household sector meant that the government was aware of the mounting financial strain on the Discoms. Beginning in february of this year, more than 40 lakh electrical users took advantage of the free power supply perk.

The minister stated that the production of solar, wind, and hydropower will be prioritized under the new electricity program. "In the coming days, the government's top priority will be to meet the demand for power through the production of green energy," he said. After the officials finished their investigation, they would also pursue medium- and large-scale irrigation projects and floating solar projects on canals, he stated.
