The bcci has fined punjab Kings captain shreyas iyer for his mistake in the match against chennai Super Kings in the 2025 IPL series. The 49th league match of the 2025 IPL series between chennai Super Kings and punjab Kings was held at the chepauk Stadium in Chennai. In this match, chennai Super Kings batted first. sam Curran of the team played aggressively. He scored 88 runs in 47 balls. Although the other batsmen did not score many runs, the punjab Kings team was under pressure as sam Curran's aggressive play continued to one side. Due to this pressure, the punjab Kings team took a long time to complete the overs.
The reason for this seems to be that punjab Kings captain shreyas iyer took extra time to stop fielding and consult with the bowlers. Due to this, punjab Kings could not complete the 20 overs within the stipulated time. This is the first time that punjab Kings have committed the offense of slow over-rate in this year's IPL series. Following this, the IPL administration has fined the team. Since this offense was committed for the first time, punjab Kings captain shreyas iyer has been fined Rs 12 lakh alone, according to the IPL administration. It is noteworthy that if the same mistake is committed for the second time, captain shreyas iyer will be fined Rs 24 lakh and all the team players will be fined Rs 6 lakh each.  In this match, the chennai Super Kings team batted first and lost all their wickets in 19.2 overs and scored only 190 runs. The punjab Kings team, who played next, reached the winning target in 19.4 overs and won the match by four wickets.
