Following Operation Sindoor, which escalated tensions with pakistan, india held a huge civil defense exercise on wednesday that included evacuation drills, air raid sirens, and blackouts. This practice was reminiscent of the 1971 war, when lights were routinely shut down to hamper visibility for enemy aircraft.

For the first time in 54 years, 244 districts nationwide—known as "civil defense districts"—with important installations are taking part in the exercises.  In light of the "new and complex threats" that have recently surfaced, the home Ministry has requested that all states conduct the drills.

Schools, law enforcement, and local governments practiced emergency procedures and what to do in the event of a missile strike on Tuesday, giving several states a preview of the security exercise.

Following indian raids on terror camps in pakistan and Pakistan-occupied kashmir on wednesday, Uttar Pradesh was placed under a high alert. To evaluate disaster readiness, mock exercises were held at government schools, NTPC buildings, shopping centers, and metro stations in Noida.  Police and bomb teams conducted a drill at Gaur City Mall, turning out the lights and triggering evacuation procedures.

At 7 p.m. tonight, the lucknow police Lines will host a simulated warfare preparation exercise.  The arrangements will be personally reviewed by chief minister Yogi Adityanath.  The exercise will demonstrate pre-war readiness and the cooperation of all participating departments.

Children received disaster reaction training at delhi schools, which taught them how to respond composedly in the event of an air raid or fire. In partnership with civil defense organizations, ten schools in ghaziabad participated in similar drills.

In collaboration with the Civil Defense team, the National Cadet Corps held a simulated exercise at Cross Maidan in Mumbai.  Mock drills will be held at four places in Hyderabad. The appropriate officers have received preparedness instructions.
