While their treasure-hunting antics are rapidly becoming a streaming success story, john Krasinski and Natalie Portman's most recent adventure film for apple TV+ may not be receiving positive reviews from critics.  Since first gaining widespread recognition in Luc Besson's 1994 action thriller Léon: The Professional, Portman has excelled in a number of fan-favorite roles and is no stranger to high-octane adventure, having previously worked on major franchises like Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In her most recent appearance, she is also accompanied by Krasinski, who became one of Hollywood's most well-known actors thanks to his breakthrough performance as Jim Halpert in the US version of The Office.  But more lately, Krasinski's flexibility has been demonstrated by a slew of more somber, action-packed parts in films like Jack Ryan on Prime Video and his horror filmmaking debuts with A Quiet Place.

At first glance, apple TV+'s most recent excursion into family-style action adventure appeared set to be another noteworthy success, with to the advantages of two well-known stars and the pulp action sensibilities of filmmaker Guy Ritchie.  However, since its recent streaming release, opinions on the Fountain of youth have been significantly divided.  Many reviews have criticized the film, which is now rated at 38% on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, for leaning too heavily on an uninteresting and generic plot that is clumsily put together with Ritchie's signature action scenes.

Notwithstanding some unfavorable reviews, Fountain of youth has a high initial audience and is currently ranked #1 on apple TV+'s Top 10 movie list, surpassing the Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy sci-fi thriller The Gorge for the top place.  The surge indicates that Fountain of youth has managed to draw in a sizable audience in the brief time that it has been available for streaming, considering that the film was only released on May 23.
