In the context of india suspending the Indus Water Treaty, there is a problem of water shortage in Pakistan. Realizing this emergency, the country's prime minister Sharif has been making calls after calls for talks. Let us take a closer look at this. An attack was carried out in pahalgam in kashmir targeting innocent people. Everyone knows that india launched Operation Sindoor against pakistan in response to this. Not only this, india announced that it would also suspend the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan. This is seen as a big blow to Pakistan. Meanwhile, Pakistani prime minister Shehbaz Sharif has changed his tone. Sharif has said that he is ready to hold talks with india on all issues, including the kashmir issue. In the context of India's suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, there is a risk of water shortage in Pakistan. Sharif wants to hold talks on that too.
However, india has categorically stated that if there is any talk with pakistan, it will be only on Pakistan-occupied kashmir and there is no possibility of holding talks on any other issue until that issue is resolved. What did he say? Recently, Pakistani prime minister Shehbaz Sharif went to Iran. While meeting the press in Tehran with Iranian President Masoud Beheshti, Shehbaz said that he is ready to hold talks with india to resolve all issues, including Kashmir. Even though he said it was the kashmir issue, in reality, the water problem has pushed them to this position. The reason is that pakistan depends on the indus river for a large part of its water needs. Following the pahalgam attack, india has announced that it is suspending the Indus Water Treaty. Although we do not have sufficient infrastructure to stop the water, the construction of water bodies is going on at a fast pace. Due to this, we can stop the water of the indus river in dams for some time. Due to this, there is a risk of water shortage in Pakistan.
This is why pakistan keeps calling for talks. India's response india gave a precise response to this demand of Pakistan. india is very clear that if there is any talk with pakistan, it will be on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Speaking at a rally in rajasthan recently, prime minister Modi warned, "Pakistan should stop supporting cross-border terrorism. pakistan will pay a heavy price if it plays with the blood of Indians." Earlier, as long as the Indus Water Treaty was in force if india tried to build any dams or power plant projects there, pakistan would continue to block it. pakistan would not even let india exercise its rights on the Chenab River and delay all the projects. But now that the Indus Water Treaty has been suspended, india has accelerated its work.

India, which is intensifying the work, has accordingly ordered the doubling of the capacity of the Ranbir Canal being built on the Chenab River. With this, india will double the existing capacity of 40 cubic meters to 150 cubic meters per second. This will be a great help for the irrigation project of Kashmir. Similarly, steps are being taken to increase the capacity of the Funal Power Station there from the existing 3,360 MW to 12,000 MW. Moreover, india is also starting to focus on projects including the construction of new dams on the tributaries of the Jhelum and Chenab rivers. If all these projects are completed as planned, india will be able to control the flow of water to Pakistan. This will put a curb on pakistan, which supports terrorism.
