Three new Superman tie-in action figures have been released by McFarlane Toys; these are based on the likenesses of Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), Baby Joey (who is thought to be Metamorpho's kid), and the enigmatic Ultraman (?).

In the lead-up to the start of production, there were recurring rumors that Ultraman and David Corenswet's Man of Steel would battle in the DCU reboot (then called Superman: Legacy). However, director James Gunn seemed to refute the rumors, albeit with careful word choice, stating that the film only had one "main villain."

Nevertheless, this was seen as a denial by many until set images showed an enigmatic masked figure with a large "U" on his breast.  Although some fans thought this might still be a distinct figure, various merchandise packaging has confirmed that this is, in fact, Ultraman.

Although Ultraman is an evil Earth-3 equivalent of Superman in the comics, it's likely that his origin story will be changed for this film.  According to what we've been told, Luthor will create a clone of his worst enemy, who might or might not end up looking more like Bizarro or even Parasite.

Superman also stars rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabel Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific and Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner.
