A stampede occurred on wednesday as a large number of cricket fans gathered near the Chinnaswamy Stadium to participate in the celebration of Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) victory. More than 10 people died in this accident and many people are in critical condition. Karnataka Chief minister Siddaramaiah expressed grief and said that the stampede occurred due to the crowd of people near the stadium, due to which this accident happened.
Compensation of 10 lakhs each to the families of the deceased
The karnataka government has announced compensation for the families of the deceased. cm Siddaramaiah said, "The government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each for the deceased. The government will provide free treatment to the injured. I do not want to defend this incident. Our government will not do politics on this. I have ordered a magisterial inquiry and asked for a report in 15 days."
The pain of this tragedy overshadowed the joy of victory
CM Siddaramaiah posted on twitter and said, "We are deeply saddened to hear that many people lost their lives and many were seriously injured in the stampede during the RCB team's victory celebrations at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The pain of this tragedy has overshadowed the joy of victory. May the souls of the dead rest in peace and wish the injured and those undergoing treatment in the hospital a speedy recovery."
'Life is more important than love and affection'
He said, "The team was not allowed to march in the Vijay Parade due to the fear of such stampede and untoward incident due to uncontrollable crowd. My condolences are with the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones. I appeal to the public to understand that life is more important than love and affection and give priority to safety."
BJP targets Siddaramaiah
BJP and JDS targeted the state's congress government blaming it for this incident. karnataka BJP posted on twitter and said, "7 people died. Many are struggling for life after the stampede due to the irresponsibility of the congress government. No measures were taken to control the crowd. There was no basic arrangement... just chaos. When innocent people were dying, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar were busy shooting reels with cricketers and hogging the limelight. This is criminal negligence. The congress government has blood on its hands."
'Congress government should take full responsibility for this stampede'
JDS leader and former karnataka Chief minister HD Kumaraswamy also targeted the Siddaramaiah government. He said, "The stampede outside Chinnaswamy happened due to lack of preparation and precautionary measures. The congress government should take full responsibility for this stampede. Immediate relief should be provided to the families of the deceased and the injured should be given better treatment."
