Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on sunday (June 22, 2025) that his country is very close to its goal of eliminating Iran's dual challenges like ballistic missiles and nuclear program. Netanyahu also made it clear that he would not allow israel to be dragged into a long and tedious war, but the campaign against iran would not be ended prematurely. He told Israeli journalists, "We will take only as much action as is necessary to achieve this goal, no more and no less, but we will not end it in a hurry either. When the objectives are achieved, the campaign will end and the conflict will stop."
Benjamin Netanyahu made a big claim
Benjamin Netanyahu has said that he has no doubt that the current government of iran intends to erase the existence of Israel. That is why israel started this military operation to eliminate those two threats - (nuclear and ballistic missiles).
Netanyahu said, "We are moving step by step towards these goals and now we are very close to achieving them." He further said that Iran's Fordow nuclear plant has been badly damaged by the 'bunker buster' bombs dropped by America last night. However, the extent of damage is yet to be assessed. Meanwhile, iran has warned to defend itself with full force against any attack.
What did Netanyahu say about enriched uranium?
The Israeli prime minister has said that his government is keeping a very close watch on the activities of Iran's 60 percent enriched uranium. This uranium is considered an important part of the nuclear program. Netanyahu said, "We are looking at it very carefully. This alone is not enough to make a nuclear weapon, but it is an important part. We also have some special information related to it, which I cannot share with everyone right now."
Before Israel's first attack on Iran's uranium enrichment centers on june 13, iran was producing uranium with a purity of up to 60%. This level is very close to the 90% purity that is considered necessary to make a nuclear bomb.
This quantity is much more than the 3.67% limit set in the 2015 nuclear deal. Iran had complied with this agreement until US President donald trump decided to exit the deal in 2018.
