Devotee Dies at Banke Bihari temple Due to Crowded Conditions

Incident Overview:

A devotee, Kripal (55), from Meerut, passed away after collapsing at the Thakur Shri Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan, Mathura, due to crowd pressure. The incident occurred while he was leaving the temple after completing his darshan.

The Sequence of Events:

Kripal arrived at the temple in the evening with his younger brother, Om Prakash, and nephew, Titu, as part of a group of 50 devotees from Niloha, Mawana, Meerut.

While navigating through the temple’s crowded areas, Om Prakash began feeling unwell. After completing the darshan, he collapsed near gate number four.

Temple doctors were called immediately but, unable to revive him, advised that he be taken to the district Joint Hospital.

Medical Response:

Kripal was rushed to the district Joint Hospital by ambulance, where doctors declared him dead.

The doctors initially attributed his death to a heart attack.

Family's Response:

In shock, Kripal's family—his brother and nephew—became distraught at the news of his death. They declined a post-mortem, instead opting to take the body home.

A written statement was given to the police, refusing further investigation into the cause of death.

Police and temple Management Involvement:

The police arrived at the scene, questioning the family about the post-mortem, but the request was denied.

The temple management released a video showing the incident, clearly depicting Om Prakash collapsing at the gate.

Official Statement:

District Magistrate Chandraprakash Singh confirmed the initial cause of death was a heart attack. He also stated that CCTV footage showed there was no significant crowd congestion in the temple at the time of the incident.
