"In 1992-93, I had the honour of visiting nelson mandela, a magnificent guy. That was India's first visit to South Africa. south africa was facing india during their first game in a long period "In a video, Tendulkar remarked.

"He'd been to Wanderers to see us, and I met him again during the 1996-97 tour. It was in Cape Town, and I scored hundreds on both occasions.

"When I first saw him, I informed him that his presence had brought me a lot of luck since I had scored a hundred on both occasions. 'I'd like to ask you out to bat each moment I go to bat,' we both joked.

"Someone who has always supported sports, his support meant a great deal to all of us, and he thinks that sports bring people together. For generations to follow, his ideas, thoughts, and ideals will continue to inspire and lead us all "Tendulkar said. On december 5, 2013, the anti-apartheid revolutionary died at the age of 95.
