
To address the developing range of manufacturing facility accidents in India, IIT madras has released a first-of-its-type postgraduate degree in method safety.
The fully online program is aimed toward running experts in chemical, mining, power, and associated sectors who want to improve their safety understanding while persevering with their jobs.

WHO CAN observe?
The degree is open to those with a BE/BTech in chemical, civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, petroleum, or allied fields or an MSc in chemistry with at least 2 years of labor experience.

WHY THIS path topics
Course coordinator Prof. Rajagopalan Srinivasan pointed out that in 2024, on my own, over 240 workplace injuries in India's production, mining, and electricity sectors caused more than four hundred deaths and 850 extreme accidents.
Chemical and pharmaceutical industries suggested the maximum extreme cases. Most of those injuries, he stated, were because of loss of protection, cognizance, and education.
"This program is constructed for specialists who need to upskill and make certain offices safer," he stated.
Blended learning
The path follows a trimester version—September-December, January-April, and May-August—and may be completed in 1-2 years, relying on how many publications the candidate chooses to take according to term.
A maximum of 3 publications in keeping with the time period is authorized, preserving the mastering conceivable alongside work commitments.
