Patients coming for treatment in government hospitals of delhi face a lot of difficulty in getting MRI tests done. The reason for this is that out of 36 government hospitals in delhi, MRI machines are available in only three hospitals. These three hospitals include Lok nayak Hospital, GB pant Hospital and indira gandhi Hospital.

health department preparing to bring proposal in cabinet meeting

Due to lack of MRI facility in other hospitals, patients either have to get the test done by paying money in private labs or have to wait for months for their turn in government hospitals. Now the delhi government is going to take an important step to solve this big problem.

In the next cabinet meeting, the government is going to bring a proposal, in which there is a plan to start MRI service in all government hospitals of Delhi. If this proposal is approved, then the delhi health Department will issue tenders to buy MRI machines and install them in hospitals. The biggest advantage of this scheme will be that patients will be able to get necessary tests like MRI for free.

Patients will get great relief as essential tests are available for free

According to health department officials, this decision will not only provide relief to patients, but the testing process in hospitals will also be faster and convenient. Many times the condition of the patients is critical and MRI is needed immediately, but due to the unavailability of the machine, the treatment gets delayed. MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a modern testing technique which gives an accurate idea of the condition inside the body. This test is very important in identifying serious diseases like brain tumor, spinal injury, cancer etc. If this step of the delhi government is implemented, it will prove to be a big relief for the patients and will also strengthen health services.
