The use of wash coal has helped in reducing the consumption of electricity and oil required for daily production. The chief engineers of Khaparkheda Coal Thermal Power Station have also claimed that the efficiency of power generation has also increased.

Prashant Pawar, president of jai Jawan jai Kisan Sanghatana, had alleged in a press conference that there was no increase in power generation due to wash coal.

According to the evidence, the engineers of Khaparkheda Thermal Power Station had submitted a copy of the data provided under the Right to Information Act.

Explaining this, the chief engineer said that 100 per cent consumption of wash coal helps in increasing availability, load ability and plant load factor and also reduces the consumption of coal.

One hundred per cent use of wash coal at the Koradi thermal power plant has resulted in an increase in power generation.

Wash coal was not used in the set at Khaparkheda from 2012-13 to 2020-2021. From april 2021 to december 2021, about 277,444 metric tons of wash coal was used. From april to december 2021, raw coal was used at 18,50,006 metric tons.

A total of 21,27,449 metric tonnes of wash coal and raw coal were used. Due to the shortage of coal, only 13.04 per cent of the total coal consumed between april and december 2021 was used for wash coal, he said.
