Toxic colors used for holi and negative health implications..?

Those who enjoy celebrating the festival of colors are eager to immerse themselves in the vivid hues of holi, which is quickly approaching. Children in particular enjoy holi very much, and for many of them, the holiday starts a week or more ahead of the main celebrations. While the explosion of color is visually stunning and getting doused in colored water is fun, chemical-based coloring agents have the potential to ruin the festival's exhilaration and cause a host of negative health impacts, including respiratory, eye, and skin disorders. Although holi is a colorful celebration of colors, the chemical-laden colors used in it can be harmful to your health. Hazardous substances like lead, mercury, chromium, cadmium, and asbestos are frequently found in them.

Holi colors deadly impact:

The following are some detrimental effects of holi colors, as explained by Dr. Tushar Tayal, Consultant in Internal Medicine, CK Birla Hospital, Gurugram:

• Allergies and skin irritations: Chemical coloring can result in burning, itching, redness, and irritation of the skin. These issues are particularly common in those with sensitive skin.

• Eye issues: If chemical colors get into the eyes, they can irritate them, cause redness, watering, and even temporarily blindness.

• Cancer: Lead and chromium, two of the chemicals used to make holi colors, are carcinogenic and can raise your chance of developing cancer if you are exposed to them over time.

Eye discomfort: If chemical colors come into contact with the eyes, they may cause irritation, redness, and even temporary blindness. Hormonal changes during pregnancy can cause increased sensitivity in the eyes, making pregnant women more susceptible to discomfort.
