Bhimavaram, situated in the west godavari district, holds significant importance as one of Andhra Pradesh's VIP constituencies. In the previous election, Jana Sena leader pawan kalyan contested here himself but faced defeat. Remarkably, bhimavaram earned the distinction of being the constituency that thwarted Pawan Kalyan's bid for victory.
The current political climate in bhimavaram is rife with anticipation and uncertainty. Will the incumbent ycp mla, Grandhi Srinivasa, who defeated Pawan in the last election, secure another victory? Or will former mla Pulaparthi Ramanjaneyu (Anjibabu), contesting from the alliance, emerge triumphant this time? These questions linger, shrouded in suspense.
Despite pawan kalyan not participating in the bhimavaram contest this time, the constituency continues to command attention due to its historical significance in Pawan's electoral journey. Initially considering a candidacy here, Pawan ultimately contested from Pithapuram. Anjibabu, the former mla from bhimavaram, has been fielded by Jana Sena, adding intrigue to the race. He previously contested against Pawan under the tdp banner and secured the third position. However, Anjibabu has tasted victory in bhimavaram before, representing both the congress and tdp in the past.
Examining the 2019 election results, mla Grandhi srinivas emerged victorious with 70,643 votes, followed by Pawan kalyan with 62,288 votes, and Ramanjaneyu securing 52,000 votes on behalf of TDP. The combined tally of tdp and janasena votes suggests a potential victory for janasena by a margin of 44,000 votes, given the constituency's total voter count of around 250,000.
A growing sentiment among the electorate is discontent with the jagan administration, particularly regarding the perceived mistreatment of law enforcement. Consequently, various factions, including security personnel and the influential kshatriya community, are rallying behind Pawan Kalyan's candidacy. This coalescence of support hints at a favourable environment for Jana Sena in bhimavaram, suggesting that their flag may indeed soar high in the upcoming election.
