Gauri Khan tours 'Mannat' in her first book 'My Life In Design', sea glimpses

Shah Rukh Khan's wife Gauri Khan's first book 'My Life in Design' takes a tour of her mumbai home 'Mannat'. bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is married to his 'love of life' Gauri Khan. Apart from being a celebrity wife, Gauri is also known for her unique interior design and she owns her own design studio 'Gauri Khan Designs' since 2017.

He has designed the homes of many A-listers stars in the industry including alia bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Nita Ambani, manish Malhotra, karan johar, and sidharth malhotra among many others. Recently, they launched their first book 'My Life in Design', published by Penguin Random house, which also takes a tour of the couple's mumbai home 'Mannat'.

Gauri Khan's design journey began by decorating her and her husband Shah Rukh Khan's delhi home. This was because, after purchasing the house, the couple was not in a position to afford the expense of an interior designer. In such a situation, Gauri had to play the role of an interior designer. In an interview with Vogue india after her book launch, Gauri spoke about her thoughts behind designing 'Mannat'. He was asked about that one thing, which would grab one's attention when he walks inside 'Mannat' for the first time. To this Gauri had said, "Probably the gates, as they are quite large. The house is in a uniform style, which is easily visible when you walk in. The primary focus for me was to ensure that each member of the family had their own There should be space, but the house should not stand out in terms of narrative."

From Shahrukh's old library to a place to visit for Aryan 

Also, in the conversation, Gauri shared that 'Mannat' also has a school library for her dear husband Shah Rukh, where Shah Rukh can brainstorm while reading and discussing meetings and work... Not only this, but he has also designed a special place for his son aryan Khan in 'Mannat', where he can enjoy and work seriously. 

He had said, “When Shah Rukh is not shooting, he spends most of his time in the library. Here, we have created a casual yet serious atmosphere. The library shelves are designed on the old-school model and provide an environment conducive to creativity. He (Aryan) hangs out there with his friends and the lighting turns this area into a nice place to watch movies and play games, but it's also a place where he used to study, write, and now work ''

Design is like art for Gauri and she likes to infuse the same energy and passion into every project she takes up. Thus, his house 'Mannat' houses a collection of art and paintings. Talking about it, Gauri had said, “Our bungalow is designed to host parties and dinners and houses a vast collection of art and paintings. It is the place to relax after a long day at work and it is also the place where we spend a lot of time with friends and family. Design is an art like any other and I hope to grow with it as an artist.”
