Filmmaker venkat prabhu is renowned for his unconventional style. For the first time, he is directly addressing the telugu audience through naga Chaitanya's Custody. even though a lot of his tamil films had telugu dubbing. In line with his tamil counterpart, the Custidy director lists the telugu films he planned to do but didn't get around to. With Nagarjuna, venkat prabhu was slated to direct a movie. The telugu version of venkat Prabhu's Mankatha, starring Ajith, was supposed to star Nagarjuna, but that never happened.

Even his most recent hot film, Maanadu, was supposed to star a telugu hero, but for some reason, it never happened. In his statement, venkat prabhu expressed his relief at being able to enter naga Chaitanya's custody. The director admits that the malayalam film Nayattu served as an inspiration for "Custody," and he adapted its plot for commercial purposes. When venkat prabhu heard a song from the movie love Story, he knew he had to work with naga Chaitanya. Chay agreed, and Custody took place.
