In Kenneth Branagh's Agatha Christie follow-up adaption, Death on the nile, a new trailer teases that murder is only the beginning. The film is a sequel to Branagh's murder on the Orient Express, in which the legendary private detective Hercule Poirot investigates a homicide aboard the namesake train and the cast of suspects at its center.

Death on the nile opens with Poirot setting sail on a riverboat after being asked to attend the wedding of a picture-perfect pair, but when a corpse is spotted on board, he must put his abilities to work to locate the criminal behind the murder. Despite mixed critical reviews, murder on the Orient Express was a commercial success, prompting 20th Century Fox to express interest in producing a sequel with Branagh reprising his roles as star, producer, and director. Returning actor tom Bateman, along with Gal Gadot, Emma Mackey, and Russell Brand, are among the cast members of the five-time oscar contender.

Death on the nile, which was in production from september to december of this year, is finally set to entertheaterss in February. With the problems surrounding both Hammer and Letitia Wright over her anti-vaccination accusations on the sets of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it will be fascinating to see how Death on the nile does at the box office moving into its february premiere.

Branagh indicated interest in creating an Agatha Christie movie franchise in the run-up to the release of murder on the Orient Express, but that will depend on how well the movie actually works against Roland Emmerich's Moonfall and Jackass Forever. When Death on the nile opens in theatres on february 11, only time will tell what the future has in store.
