Sources said that the police identified the body from the tattoo on divya Pahuja's back. ACP Crime varun Dahiya said that a clue about the whereabouts of the body came to light after the arrest of Balraj Gill, who had fled with Divya's body along with his associate ravi Banga. police, with the help of 25 NDRF teams, started searching for the body from patiala to Khanauri in Fatehabad. Sources said that the police sent a photograph of the body to Divya's family, after which they identified the body due to the tattoo. After confirmation, the police took the body into custody.

divya was shot dead on january 2 in room number 111 of City Point Hotel near Gurugram bus stand. According to the police, divya and City Point Hotel owner Abhijeet Singh were in a relationship and he was angry after divya refused to delete some objectionable pictures of him from his mobile. Balraj had earlier said that he, along with ravi, had thrown Divya's body in the Bhakra Canal near patiala, Punjab. It is being speculated that the body might have washed away and arrived in Haryana. Balraj is being brought to Gurugram on three-day transit remand. He revealed that after throwing the body in the Bhakra Canal, he had left the bmw used in the crime at the patiala bus stand. According to police sources, Balraj revealed that on the night of january 2, he and ravi had left Gurugram with the dead body in a BMW. After leaving the car in patiala, he first went to udaipur by taxi.
