They say that all is fair in love and war, and some people are taking advantage of this saying. According to a survey by NCRB, love and sex relationships are the main causes of homicide in India. In recent years, it has become common practise to murder the third party in a love triangle or the object of arousal if they reject the advances of the other sex. Additionally, it is observed that more cases of husbands being murdered by their own wives and their lovers are coming to light these days.

As the plot is a big lure for viewers, popular cinema has recently featured a number of these stories. Such tales with the criminal purpose of love-struck couples and their dark stories are selling like hotcakes thanks to the era of streaming channels. And much like their on-screen counterparts, regular people also use violence to declare their love or get rid of a bad character. It has gotten to the point where domestic violence and property conflicts are no longer the leading causes of homicide.

51,554 cases of property conflicts have been documented in the last few years, compared to around 67,000 homicides committed for personal reasons. In the meantime, 44,400 cases of romantic relationships were registered. Unexpectedly, however, personal vengeance cases decreased by 4% and property dispute instances decreased by 12%. Well, there was a 28% increase in killings caused by romantic relationships.
