During Operation Sindoor on May 7, india targeted important Pakistani aviation installations, including as the Sargodha airfield and the Chaklala airbase near Islamabad, both of which were seen to be vital to Pakistan's air strength. The indian military acknowledged that a series of precision strikes across Pakistan's western front targeted F-16 stations, training facilities, air defense systems, and command centers.

"This was the time to send a clear message," a senior indian military source stated. "We attacked quickly and purposefully, focusing on military installations, command centers, and airbases. Chaklala is Islamabad; Rafi, Chakala, and Chaklala are more than just names. We also struck Sargodha, one of their key F-16 airfields.

The statements were given at a special Operation Sindoor press briefing.  Major General SS Sharda, Vice Admiral AN Pramod, air Marshal AK Bharti, and Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai led the briefing.

The attacks come after a deadly terror assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, last month that sparked a rapid and extensive military response.

Following pressure from the United States, india and pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on saturday after four days of fierce fighting.  However, india accused pakistan of breaking the deal after explosions occurred in border cities a few hours later.

The two longstanding rivals have exchanged missile and drone attacks on one other's military installations in their most intense battles in almost 30 years.
