According to sources prime minister narendra modi has lauded the tamilnadu government and chief minister K Palaniswami for the "excellent arrangements" done for the second Sino-India informal summit held near here recently. Meanwhile China's Ambassador to india, Sun Weidong, has also written to Palaniswami thanking him for the arrangements during President Xi Jinping's india visit. An official release said “The Chinese leader had arrived here for his second informal meet with modi on october 11 and 12, where they discussed a wide range of bilateral issues at the nearby coastal town of Mamallapuram, 50 km from here”.

The release said modi has written a letter to the chief minister, lauding the "excellent arrangements" done for the informal summit. It said "In the letter, the prime minister said the reception accorded to the Chinese President and the hospitality was reflective of our culture and ethos”. Furthermore, the release quoted modi as saying the summit was a "memorable" one for himself and Jinping.
