The india Meteorological Department issued a ‘red’ alert, indicating the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall in the state in the next 24 hours. The state government has announced closure of all schools and colleges in the state in view of incessant downpours that triggered landslides– blocking several roads in the past 24 hours. As per IMD, isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim.
