The palamuru Lift Irrigation Scheme (PLIS), one of the most inventive engineering accomplishments in history, is prepared for the crucial wet run. A completely new pumping model that was being used for the first time in the world has finished its two-week end-to-end test. The kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS), which india utilized to take water from the Godavari, became the project's lifeline for north telangana, earning them the nickname "Bahubali" pumps.

"The pumps we're deploying in the palamuru Ranga reddy Lifts are the world's first of their sort. Pumps with a 145 MW capacity have not yet been tested anywhere. The PRLIS's historic water lifting systems were installed by the State, according to project chief engineer M. A. Hameed Khan. Once four of the five stages of the system are operational, 31 of these enormous pumps will be placed into service. Each of them can actually be referred to as the "Baap of Bahubali" pumps, as authorities from every engineering branch involved in the project's development have dubbed them.

With the enormous pumps being created and constructed by indian public sector company BHEL, it is a source of pride not only for the State but for the entire nation. In order to satisfy demands during the 60-day period of their operation, a standby pump with the same capacity has been constructed at each stage of pumping 90 tmc of krishna flood water from the shore of srisailam reservoir. In order to achieve the target drawl of 1.5 tmc per day and 90 tmc in 60 days, each pump will be lifting 3200 cusecs.

There is no compromising on this issue, the project's chief engineer and his team of senior engineers reaffirmed.

The project's initial component, which aims to quench the thirst of the dry palamuru region, will contribute to providing 7.15 tmc of water to meet the region's drinking water demands. It has 79 tmc set aside for irrigation. The speed of work on the irrigation component will be increased after the last clearances are received. Approximately three TMC of industrial demands would also be supported by the project once it is fully operational following the completion of the canal network.

"A tremendous amount of effort and tenacity made it possible. After three decades of discussing the benefits and drawbacks of a lift plan to alleviate the thirst of the palamuru people, a parched zone that had endured decades of drought, the project's foundation stone was finally set. Giving krishna water to palamuru was merely a fantasy of the former rulers of the undivided state, according to the officials.

Following Telangana's Statehood, it was made possible by chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. He transitioned from wishful thinking to possibility thinking before moving into action mode. According to a group of retired engineers from the telangana Retired Engineers Association, including Ganapati Rao, Srinivas, and murali Manohar Rao, his goal became a reality today. They went on to say that the Chief Minister's tremendous belief in potential was the secret to his success.
