Following the nine-day ganesh chaturthi celebrations, the procedure of immersing Lord Vinayaka idols in waterbodies began here on thursday, under extensive security measures. During the 'Nimajjanam' (immersion) procedure, around 90,000 idols of Lord Vinayaka are anticipated to be submerged in Hussain Sagar and countless other lakes and water bodies. The large idol placed at Khairatabad in the city's center serves as the major draw for the ganesh chaturthi celebrations in hyderabad every year.
This year, the planners set up a 63-foot-tall idol, which was taken for immersion on thursday morning. According to police sources, up to 11,000 idols were built for worship this year in the Rachakonda police Commissionerate alone. The administration has put in place sufficient preparations for immersion, including placing cranes across the city. In the meanwhile, the police have put in place complex security measures to guarantee that the event runs without a hitch. The state capital and its surroundings are under the protection of more than 30,000 security officers during the immersion, which is scheduled to last through Friday.

According to a press release, hyderabad police Commissioner C v Anand conducted a route inspection on Tuesday, starting at the well-known Balapur Ganesh temple and traveling to a number of major locations along the way with the help of the heads of Traffic, Law and Order, and Special Branch. To ensure that this year's Ganesh idol procession and immersion were memorable and incident-free, the city police issued an appeal to the general public asking them to cooperate with law enforcement officers and abide by safety regulations.
