A spoon, not a beer bottle as originally claimed in the FIR, was used in the alleged attack on 19-year-old Mohd Rashid during a Ganesh immersion procession at charminar, according to police. Rashid, a vendor of sweet corn, carried on as normal on the evening of september 28. An immersion procession went past Laad Bazar, where Rashid's roadside kiosk was located, as hyderabad said goodbye to Lord Ganesha.

Initial reports claim that Rashid was attacked by a bunch of kids who were marching with a procession of Ganesh idols from the Hussain Alam side. He suffered wounds to his wrists and head. In an interview with Rashid on Saturday, 30 september, a day after the police had filed a FIR, Rashid said that he had first been contacted by two individuals seeking sweet corn. "Two procession attendees arrived and inquired for sweet corns. Then another individual attempted to remove my stall. Rashid said that they were all inebriated. "When I rebelled, they hit me with a beer bottle on my head, and I started bleeding," he claimed.

Irfan and Abbu, two of Rashid's pals, saw the event happen. Rashid stated, "About 25 people just appeared out of nowhere and started attacking us." The adolescent was assaulted by many members of the same gang the day after being hit with a beer bottle, according to a FIR that was filed the next day by the charminar police.
However, the police now have a different account of what happened. charminar SHO K Chandra Shekar told india Herald that there was no beer bottle involved. "The FIR copy has an error. According to the article, Rashid was struck with a beer bottle, but our investigations showed that he actually took a spoon to the head. The individual has been identified thanks to CCTV footage. He is presently evading capture, the policeman added.

Rashid said that he was attacked by a gang of 25 individuals who were intoxicated, however, the police denied this. Nobody was intoxicated, and no one was attacked by 25 individuals, the policeman claimed.

According to the FIR copy, a case was registered under sections 343 (Wrongful confinement for three or more days), 324 (the person is voluntarily hurt by the use of a dangerous weapon or means), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the indian Penal Code. The video of Rashid’s injury went viral on social media where a person alleges the sweet corn seller was hit by a knife.
