
A 14 year old girl allegedly committed suicide demanding reservation for the maratha community in Jalna,
Maharashtra. A police officer gave this information on Friday. According to the officer, the minor girl hanged
herself in a room of her house in Someshwar area on Thursday. The officer said that a letter from the minor has
been recovered, in which he has allegedly written that the maratha community should get reservation and my
words should not go in vain. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought
dead, the officer said. police were informed about the incident on friday morning. He said that a case has been
registered in Limbgaon police station in connection with this incident and investigation is being done.
Police registered a case and started investigation
He said that a report of sudden death has been registered at Limbgaon police station and further investigation is
underway. This is the second suicide case on this issue within a week after a 23-year-old man from Nanded city
committed suicide by consuming poison. In a note found from him, his desire for a government job was
expressed. The note read, This is a question of government job for me. One maratha, lakh Marathas.
Bhagyanagar police station had registered an accidental death report in connection with the incident.
Maharashtra is witnessing protests by members of the maratha community demanding reservation, which is
being led by activist Manoj Jarange. Who have gone on hunger strike for their demands. Following Jarange’s
hunger strike, the maharashtra government led by chief minister Eknath Shinde decided to issue Kunbi caste
certificates to those Marathas who could produce records from the erstwhile hyderabad state where their
ancestors were reported to belong to the Kunbi community. So that they can avail the benefits of OBC quota.
