Election Commission of india (ECI) has developed Encore Counting Module (ECM) to display accurate and
real-time trends of vote counting. With the help of this module, the election commission will be able to quickly
deliver the round-wise vote counting results of madhya pradesh assembly elections to the common people
through its website, Voter Helpline App and Result Trends TV.
As you know, Encore Counting application was launched by the election commission on 10 march 2019.
Earlier, the data of vote counting for lok sabha or assembly elections was compiled on paper, Excel sheet or
state specific application. Later, it was put on the website of the election commission to display the results,
which was updated after a certain interval, which also caused delay in displaying the results. But, now with the
Encore counting application, the counting trends can be displayed faster and in real time.
How will Encore Counting application work?
Encore Counting application has been prepared by the election commission only for counting of votes. It has
been designed to monitor the entire process of counting of votes and to enter all the data related to counting of
votes. The Encore Counting application is deployed in such a way that a series of actions to be taken by the
Returning Officer will automatically pop up one after the other in the system. With the help of this application,
during the counting of votes, the postal ballots received by the candidates and the votes received polling station
wise in each round will be entered.
